چکیده

It has been shown recently that uid limit models provide the means to substantially simplify the stability analysis of multiclass queueing networks. This paper begins to address the most natural second question: do uid models provide a tool for developing high performance scheduling policies for queueing networks? A linear program is constructed to give upper and lower bounds on achievable performance over all work conserving policies. The bounds are tested through simulations using Simulink. Stochastic translations of the control policies are tested through simulations using UltraSAN on a stochastic-discrete model of the network.

Development of an in-cylinder processes model of a CVVT gasoline engine using artificial neural network

Today, employing model based design approach in powertrain development is being paid more attention. Precise, meanwhile fast to run models are required for applying model based techniques in powertrain control design and engine calibration. In this paper, an in-cylinder process model of a CVVT gasoline engine is developed to be employed in extended mean valve control oriented model and also mod...

Value Functions, Optimization, and Performance Evaluation in Stochastic Network Models∗

This paper concerns control and performance evaluation for stochastic network models. Structural properties of value functions are developed for controlled Brownian motion (CBM) and deterministic (fluid) workload-models, leading to the following conclusions: Outside of a null-set of network parameters, (i) The fluid value-function is continuously differentiable. Under further minor conditions, ...

A simulative evaluation of a dynamic fluid flow model for designing Congestion Control using non-linear control theory

Congestion Control using non-linear control theory L. Rossides, A. Pitsillides, P. Ioannou University of Cyprus, University of Southern California Abstract: Most of the congestion control algorithms used today are based on ad hoc techniques and intuition and their effectiveness is proven through extensive simulations. We are motivated by recent results in non-linear control theoretic techniques...

Approximate Dynamic Programming for Networks: Fluid Models and Constraint Reduction

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of using approximate linear programming (ALP) to compute nearly optimal average cost for multiclass queueing network control problems. ALP works directly with the LP form of the optimality equations, but approximates the di¤erential cost by a linear form. We use quadratics, piece-wise quadratic value functions from ‡uid models, and other approximating fun...

Three New Systematic Approaches for Computing Heffron-Phillips Multi-Machine Model Coefficients (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper presents three new systematic approaches for computing coefficient matrices of the Heffron-Phillips multi-machine model (K1, …, K6). The amount of computations needed for conventional and three new approaches are compared by counting number of multiplications and divisions. The advantages of new approaches are: (1) their computation burdens are less than 73 percent of that of convent...
